What better way to celebrate spring than to look at an album cover that perhaps, harkens back to freshly cut lawns, or a beautiful field? No, not feeling it either? OK allergies are fucking hell, and welcome to a pollen nightmare.

Annnnd Alex sent this one in too – clearly from Instagram’s yesterdaysheroes. Looks like this, and Variation #8 are closely related. From the Mike Bell(?) presents, to the quotes around Fear of Smell… oh yeah, the clincher being the 3/3 in the bottom corner. Seeing as #8 has 1/3 – someone out there, probably in California (Stamford region perhaps?) has 2/3. C’mon folks, dig through your old records and see if yours is, uh, #2.

Caught this earlier this year on Instagram video and had to try and grab a quick screen shot. No idea what the back cover looks like either. Hmmm. Lipstick? Or just crayon? Who knows.

“I am not fuckin’ drunk”

Crayons are a beast to try and draw hands/fingers, so fuck it, draw a mouse like creature with a flask and a cigarette. Last one from the Mid-90’s group, this one posted by Justin Sitner.

Variation #163

Front Cover

“Someone thought this was a good idea.”

Marc Arsenault sent this one in and I sat on it for a while (actually this post is probably back dated, so didn’t appear on the date it says it did, who the fuck cares?). I have no clue what this cover is getting at, although I’d suspect this might have come from the New Jersey crew of the Vermiform allied folks (Merel were from Jersey, no?). The S in the “someone” looks like from the Skeptix “…So The Youth” LP (on the notorious Rock-O-Rama label, but Skeptix were not a nazi band in any way).

And the pavement is grey duct tape, but chunks, not one solid piece. If it were a piece of modern art (and, fuck it, it might be) I’d say it has a lot going on.

Variation #162

Front Cover

“Too Fukin Much” “Out of Ideas”

The punk plundering continues, this time with a loose attempt at the Minor Threat Out of Step 12″ EP (particularly the UK edition – so, third pressing?) The black sheep is actually pretty close to the original; the herd however is a bit, well, different from the original Minor Threat version. Either way, this one comes courtesy of the mid-90’s group again, and this one is owned by Rich Boulet.

Front Cover

“Ripe & Juicy!” This one comes courtesy of Facebook’s mid-90’s group. Matt Keleher is the current owner. That’s a juicy tomato. Or tomatoe? Oh wait, Dan Quayle was  a potato(e) guy. Never mind.

Variation #159

Filed under: cut and paste,Fear Of Smell — Jon K. @ 9:47 pm

Front Cover

So on Facebook, there’s a mid-90’s group dedicated to the punk/emo/screamo/hardcore music that was coming out during that decade. Periodically they do a Fear of Smell post. This one is from Blair Taylor, who recalls getting it at Fallout Records in Seattle.  Anarchy!
