I’ve heard it before, uh wait. That’s not how this post goes, I in fact have seen it before, and I do want to see it again. Alex found this one in the wild, so all props to him. Maybe one of the spray painted covers, after they gave up adding tinsel and doing the same old same old.

So this one came from the man in the field, who’s seen as many of these and will be a part of the blog hierarchy very shortly, Alex.

Looks like the Slow and Fear (as well as the list of things to do) are in one marker, with the of smell finished at a later date.  Perhaps that blop of schmutz is an erased “buy a new black marker”. Or maybe it said, “finish list”. Either way, a neat cover to ponder.

I guess it’s only appropriate to celebrate baseball’s spring training starting with a cover loosely related to baseball. Who am I kidding, who gives a fuck about baseball? Gold spray-painted back, similar to the R2-D2 one from a while back (Variation #11), and Variation #132. This one also comes from Senor Dynamite.

Copped from ebay, no real purchase information other than the usual ebay legal disclaimers.

But don’t shit on the little guy cuz that’d be way ageist, y’know

Seems like a statement that only the 90’s could’ve put on a record cover. The black electrical tape is reminiscent of my cover, which had tape around the edges ala MRR’s catalog.

Always the simple one’s eh, Daniel? Someone else bought it, which would’ve been an amazing addition to the bland covers collection. Looks like Sam McPheeter’s handwriting on this one as well. This bears some resemblance to: Variation #114.

One from the ‘Bay. Guess the cover artiste was a little less than inspired today. There wasn’t much of a description of this one either – which frankly isn’t that surprising. Oh well, how much can you polish?

Pseudo Star Wars strikes again (considering the previous R2-D2 cover)… anyways this was sent in back in July 2013, but in the abyss that is my e-mail, I missed it entirely. Here’s the belated story from Tim Leanse (with my profuse apologies):

just packing my LPs up for a bit, and suddenly remembered to submit! forget where the exact purchase happened, but i’m guessing a Boston or Cambridge, Mass. record store (Pipeline?) in the late 90s.

This comes courtesy of Dave Stephenson – and Double Decker Records. I’m 99% sure that this is spoken for. An interesting mashup of Moss Icon and Fear of Smell. The hashtag would indicate this is a test press, the christmasy theme of the tinsel/garland wrapped ones is in line with this one. I’d be happy to hear theories if you have ’em.

Our man in the streets (don’t forget them), Alex nabbed this test pressing with very, um, unique letters that I’m sure Sam McPheeters would rather forget. Looks like a photo from one of those Japanese photo-sticker booths near the spine of the front cover.

Here’s an e-mail submission via  Andrew.

Just saw your blog. Great idea. Here’s some pics of my copy of the record. Sorry they’re sideways!

What are the chances that the drawing is an action shot of a fart? Or… ?

Actually it looks a bit like a tiger lily to me… but maybe it’s a rorschach-test type question – it reveals much more about the viewer than it does the actual artiste. The back cover resembles the spray can work of Variation #75 and Variation #45. Maybe even Variation #11?

“Oi Oi Oi Vey” All Jewish Orthodox Punk Compilation!”

Chris stumbled upon the blog and posted his version – which bears a resemblance to Variation #105, Variation #40, Variation #37, and Variation #113 – they all have bubbly letters, and if you look at the bottom of the E in Fear, it’s got a similar bump in it over several of those similar. I read somewhere that NYC has the highest concentration of orthodox Jews outside of Israel. When I visited in the mid 90’s – that certainly was something I noticed on the lower east side and in Brooklyn.

Chris also is part of a design firm, so if you need your firm designed, contact him through their website. Thanks Chris!
