Ahhh, finally one of the first off the block. Front Cover with tinsel, spray painted stencil and back cover with a hearty fuck. Strange that it’s missing the “Only 5 Made”, but maybe the first batch didn’t get the full compliment of stickers.

This copy comes courtesy of Jeff Lebowski, who also runs 16OH, purveyors of the fine Slices 7″ EP that blew my hat off this year. Fear not that it hasn’t been updated in 2009, he’s very active and Jeff’s mailorder is out weekly. Solid dude, backed hard (in the parlance of the kids).

Miss Kerin found the site while she was looking for information to sell the Fear of Smell comp – so if you’re looking for one…. here’s a link to the auction. Keep Kerin in house and home because her pet had some vet bills. And, yes, I’ll profile the cover in a little bit.

Another Drew submission, this one currently belongs to Eric Wood, of Man Is The Bastard/Bastard Noise fame. Drew being the stand-up fellow gave Wood this copy when Bastard Noise played in Phoenix in 2007. What would drive Drew to such unselfishness? He found out that Wood didn’t have a copy.

Another Drew submission, this one is really kind of nice. Block paint-printing that makes me think it’s not the same as some of the other painted ones, even though it’s done in the same hue range (red, black, brown). Looks like a thumbprint on the back there. Drew picked up this copy on the 1993 US Tour of Born Against in Mesa, AZ. Here’s the flyer for that show:

“Ugly piece of shit (magnified 100x)”. Here we have the first of three copies from Drew.  And yeah, indeed this thing on the cover is an ugly piece of shit. Drew on the other hand is a fine human being, who picked this copy up over the years and hauled it out of storage just to take pictures of it for the blog. Like you should do! And then send them here.

This is the submission of John Piche, who suggests that you go to http://www.lovebunnipress.com and peruse some books, zines or good times written on the net. John’s recollection of the record is probably pretty atypical:

Unfortunately, there is hardly a story that goes with this copy. I sent away for it. Eventually, it arrived in the mail. Then I listened to it for a bit. Now it lives near the end of my record collection, that is slowly falling apart as the glue on cardboard dries up, losing its sticky.

So for those of you who missed either of the vinyl runs of Fear of Smell, here’s a glimpse into what the second presses looked like, of course some of this may seem familiar as I’ve used bits of it for the theme for the blog. This was pulled from an ebay auction as I don’t own a second pressing. In fact the second press came out a few years after I traded for my copy so if I was a little more patient, I probably would’ve been able to score it without too much trouble. Oh well, I like my copy just fine.
