So this one was on ebay and caught my eye, perhaps part of the load that was dropped off on Kent McClard and Ebullition. “Vermiform, a tiny, small subdivision of Ebullition Inc.” It sold on October 10, 2009 for $15 from a seller in Rhode Island.

EDIT: Turns out, it’s bought in that auction by a friend of mine, Jack Barfield, who submitted it to the blog almost three years later. Here’s a better picture of the front and back cover. He bought it off of Justine Demetrick who’s photos you’ve seen if you have good taste and are as old (or older) as me.

Quite possibly the chimney sweeper owned this one. Actually it’s Ken from Prank Records, one of the best labels going these days (pick up the latest Paintbox records if you have the spare change). I dig this one, although I’m not sure it could sit next to the Hose Got Cable record (it has a white cover) or the Beatles White Album.  Here’s Ken’s recollections about it:

think I bought this at Epicenter when it came out. I do like that after spray painting both sides with different colors, they thought enough to use different colors of Crayon on each side.

Interesting take on the cover here – sort of a linoboard scratch/etching thing going on. Another contribution from Luke – who purchased this one in Bulldog Records in Chicago, around 1995 or 1996. Thanks again!

Here’s a pretty colorful (text and visually) version of the Fear of Smell comp. Why would someone have to talk to themselves about acquiring the services of some ladies of the night? Perhaps there’s an inner monologue going on?

Either way, Luke, thanks for your contribution. Here’s what Luke said about this version:

The “Hookers” cover was purchased in 1993 or 1994 in Perth, Australia.

Funny that it too has that neon orange sticker that someone’s put the name on.

Here’s another one, this time with a good story. This copy belongs to Wedge, drummer for 9 Shocks Terror, Inmates and somehow tied to every decent Cleveland band to exist since the 90’s. Also keep an eye out for this one on Ebay, as that’s where it’s headed. Check his account for some auction action.

This is what Wedge e-mailed me to say about this copy:

bought this at a Born Against show, Mama Joe’s Pizza, Kent, Ohio. sometime in spring(??) 1993. I think this was possibly Born Against’s last show?? Anyways, its got the “featuring Rich Oliver!!” & “Only 5 made!!” stickers on the back. The back is smeared with pink/red lipstick. There were 3 people who weren’t band members at the merch table, and they were all hand-drawing the sleeves right there & then putting them in the crates. One person was using lipstick on theirs, and that’s how the sleeve got smeared. I’ve seen a couple others on your blog that have this as well; presumambly from the same batch. I was shootin the breeze with Sam after their set and he mentioned he had quit writing for MRR just recently. I threatened to give him this LP back in protest. He started laughing his ass off, but those around witnessing this didn’t find it funny at all & were giving me some strange looks as a result. This record kinda exemplifies the demise of the Hard Core Compilation, to me anyways. There’s some really great bands on this LP, but they all sounded like throw-away’s & left-over tracks to me. I think i only ever really listened to the between track phone calls & that thing about Kiss after the one time i ever played it thru…just my opinion…

I think there’s a couple with that weird orange tape on them, including Variation #27 and Variation #17 Strangely, that #27 has poop on it too. Clearly an undiagnosed Scheiße-fetish.

EDIT: Wedge got $9.99 for it on ebay on October 26, 2009.

This submission comes courtesy of Camilo Sanchez, who

found this copy at Amoeba Records in Hollywood in April of last year. Guy at the register took a look at it and was happy to see Moss Icon on it, not so much Infest thought. Weird.

I’d be pretty turned off by the bloody nipples on the cover. Of course, maybe they’re cherries? This one’s handwriting also kinda bears a passing resemblance to Variation #6, but isn’t quite the same too.

This selection comes courtesy of Imants, record collector extrordinaire and guy who has a vicious heckle. Apparently the interns at Vermiform were unpaid child labourers on the day these were decorated. Billy, age 8, would be 24 or so now. Hope this comp scared him straight to a degree and away from drugs (what else would Infest tell this kid??)

Only 5 Made!

Here’s the submission from Miss Kerin, which I posted an auction link to a week or two back. It was originally submitted to Ben Is Dead fanzine for review – to which Kerin was unsure of if she wrote one. Be cool to see a review if there is one out there from the time.

Well, this one is kinda’ neat. Copped it from ebay, thanks to a heads up from Tom Hopkins, illustrious man of the hour. Clearly, Iggy Scam, of Scam Fanzine had a hand in the decoration of this cover. Fear of Smell (aka Scam is the Bastard) … fucking funny. Check out the inside of the cover where Iggy suggests we should shoot up puke.

Hmmm, I’m not sure about the matching up of front cover to back cover. Anyways, 3-D glasses might help this cover that I grabbed from ebay. I liked the spirograph elements of the doodles.
